  • Yamaha Motif as controller...?

    Dear users,
    hope someone can help me.
In my setup i have a Yamaha Motif ES6 and i've tryed to use as controller.
Good surprise because Logic recognize as Mackie control. Very good i can select track,
controlling transport, select and activate plugins and control the main parameters of.
All is displayed on the motif. But....the only plugin i cant control is the V.I.
I am sure there is a way and very appreciate any suggestions.
Many Thanks in advance to all.

  • Hi Anton,

please assign the sliders you want to control from your motif by rightclicking (Control-Click on Mac) the given slider - then move the slider on your keyboard - that´s it.

  • Many thanks Paul,
was my obviously first option....but :
if in normal mode ( as sinthesyzser ) all 4 slider are transmitting the same midi
controller and recognized from V.I. as modwheel.
If in remote mode ( as suggested ) motif is working in Mackie control emulation mode and all plugins in my system are recognized and all parameters available ( on the screen) but the only plugin not show parameters is V.I.
A motif expert suggest me ( for the plugins not standard ) to reprogram the slider for transmetting midi data....so i leave because is a little nightmare.
Well : next time i pay attention for the "ultimate" keyboard solution including
    sampler,seq, midi controller etc....

  • Hi Anton,

it shouldn´t be too hard to assign the sliders to different MIDI CC´s....

And I really don´t understand, why all 4 sliders would send the same MIDI date...

You can also contact your musicstore and ask for assistance! In any case, keep trying, I´m sure that you can make it!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Dear Paul, really appreciated your suggestions but :
Is not possible to change the slider button and knob for a different midi destination when Motif are in "remote" mode because that can affect all other midi control standard presets. ( I have contacted "experts" on Motiforum" ). Seems i need a dedicated Midi controller...that drive me a little bit sad 'cause Motif is new and
not exactly inexpensive...anyway many thanks ...I hoped that someone here used it so as to to be able to me to help...no problem.

Anton, have you considered adding a cheap 2nd controller with lots of knobs and switches, specifically as a controller device?
At current prices, you could add this to your setup for relatively little expense.

And have an extra keyboard for keyswitch assignments as well. As i understand it, there are a variety of 2 octave controllers out there which wouldn't take too much deskspace. (Evolution 425-c, M-Audio Oxygen?)

    Good Luck,

    Regards,

    Alex.

  • Alex,
yes i have planned Novation remote for my propouse but because of space question i must make a choice or Motif or Novation ( maybe 61 key ). It's just a question of : Motif is not a real remote controller or what ?
    Many thanks.
    PS
..so nobody is a Motif user around here....over 2000 € expenses that go in smoke.... [:'(]
