  • One disk is best ?

    Dear VSL specialist,
my question is : my VI orchestral package is best divided on 2 fw 800 disks or
one big FW 800 disk ?
    Many thanks
    PS

the VSL team suggests having two discs, at least 300GB each. The entire library is 550+ GB.

    FW800 is a good choice.

Format the drives with OSX Disc Utility in Mac Extended, but do not journal the drives.

  • I think FW 800 drives are not the best choice, although they are good, they are not the best by any means. I think 2X external fast SATA drives are a much better option. If you can afford it, then 4X smaller drives is best of all - say 4X 250Gb drives would be excellent. If you really wanted to go over the top get 10 external 120gb 10,000rpm SATA drives - one for each VI package with room to spare.

    Miklos.

  • Many thanks.
