  • I can't get the learn function to work- Help please!!!

I'm using the orchestral strings I VI and want to try using the expression fader on the
perform screen in the VI. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but here are the steps I'm doing:

    1. click on map controls
    2. set source to controller
    3. set CC# to 11 ( iwant to control the expression with my mod wheel)
    4. right click with my mouse on expression fader (perform screen)

** Instead of the fader staying highlighted in red, it flashes quickly in red and stops.
Then the expression fader drops to 0 and moves very erratically when I try to just move the expression fader up with my mouse.
Therefore, it's not leaving me enough time to move the mod wheel and have the fader learn this controller. This used to work. What am I doing wrong?
    I'm using OSX 10.46, DP 5.1, G4 Dual 1.25 Ghz., 2 GB RAM

    Thanks!

    Tom

  • Hi Tom,

sounds like you have some continuous controller data coming in... which is picked up by the fader as soon as you want to assign it....
Happens to me regularily when I forget to unplug my breath controller...

BTW: You don´t need to go to map control... simply rightlick (Mac: Control Click) the fader you want to assign and move the corresponding MIDI slider.

    Hope that helps.

  • Hi Paul:

Yes, I think you're right. I notice that when I look at the little
learn menu, it always seems to default to #CC2 even though I never assign it
to that controller.I also notice that when I turn off my Tascam US-2400
control surface, everything works as it should.I'm able to assign the fader
    correctly.

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • Paul:

Yes!! you were right- in fact I had the same controller (CC2- breath controller).
All I did is filter it in DP and everything works fine now.

    Thanks again,

    Tom

  • Great!

    I´m happy to hear that!

    Have fun,
