  • Key Switches in Digital Performer

Might be a simple q. anyone help please. I understand how to change patches via keyswitching in VI while playing in/recording 'learn' etc., but how do I change the patches in DP for an existing MIDI track to do the same???

  • Record the keyswitch notes as part of that midi track, either during recording itself or in a seperate pass (overdubbing mode), or manually write them in (by mouse) ..... is that what you meant or did I miss something?

  • thx I'll try that, seems to make sense - I think I just missed the obvious
    cheers

  • I would recommend with DP 5.1's track folders to add a separate MIDI track for the key switches. This makes for less clutter when editing-- and easier export for notation applications.

  • .....just adding to the above advice:

If you have a separate midi track for your keyswitches you can still easily edit them along with the performance midi data by using the graphic editor window.

Simply select the two midi tracks in the left hand list and they will appear overlayed (use different colours for added clarity). Now you have two tracks but can work on them as if just one.

Of course you can have as many tracks as you like appear/deisappear in the GE window by just selecting/deselecting them.

    HTH! [:D]
