  • I really really want them...

I really, really want the VI Solo Strings. I mean I really want them.

You know that feeling when there's an amazing new product that, not only exactly fits the bill for what you need, but is also really cool and sexy? Well the VI Solo Strings do that for me.

Just listen to those performance repetitions. Phwoar. That's hawt.

And Beat's demo of Grieg's Prelude to Holberg Suite - it blew my pants off.

I really, really want this cookie.

So, brushing dramtically aside all financhial problems, all those college bills, all rent and lifestyle outgoings, all fiscal sense in general, I intend to, finally, purchase this bastard.

And I really, really can't afford it. Yet here I go...

But before I do, can anyone say anything, good or bad, about them? Going for extended version btw.

  • Extended is essential. They are absolutely brilliant. I can't, thus far, say anything bad about them. The expressivity and realism is really amazing, and they are extremely flexible. It can still be a little overwhelming, at times, when faced with narrowing down the exact articulations you intend to use for a piece, but the VI makes that much easier. And changing your mind is really possible now, since the VI makes re-configuring your instrument/patch much simpler.

    Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

    enjoy!

ps-- I can't really afford my VIs either, but I had to do it... I know exactly what you're going through!

  • HA! Good to know..

I have the originial VSL Solo Strings and so I'm used to perhaps donig things a certain way, will this feel like familiar territory, but easier?

  • I'm sure it will! You may miss setting up first keyswitch delays for repetitions or getting the octave offset right, but you'll have to live with that [[;)]]

    VSL manuals

  • Yes!!!! I didn't miss the old methods one bit. You'll have to re-work any older scores, but I did that too, and it didn't take long at all.

Sooooo simple to configure custom instruments. I think that's the best part. Also, you'll probably freak out a bit at how much better the patches you thought you knew alread actually sound. These guys have done a _lot_ of extra stuff behind the scenes that we don't necessarily know about. Top notch.
