  • Installation and registration problems??

Last night I tried to register and install the Woodwinds I VI. I already have Orchestral Strings installed and registered. There are two problems occuring:

    1. When I try to register the Woodwinds, I can never get past the page where you're asked to enter your User key#.When I enter the # and click submit, it say's that this # is already being used.Consequently, I can never get to the next page where I am supposed to enter the product serial# to register.

    2. When I try to install the Woodwind library, it just quits on the 2nd disk.Question- Do I need to install the VI software again for this instrument seeing as I already installed it once for the Orchestral Strings I library? If so, than this is probably the problem. The library installer I'm using was created on May 30, 2006. I don't see a version #.I've updated to the latest VI update of 1.06b. I also updated to the latest Syncrosoft driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've watched the video, but they don't address whether or not the procedure is different if you're installing a second or additional VI. My thinking was that the reason the library installer is still there on my hard drive (from the strings installation) is simply for that reason-to install additional VI's.

Equipment: OSX 10.46, Mac g4 Dual 1.25 ghz., 2 GB of RAM, DP DAW

    Thanks,

  • Not sure about the Reg key .. but with the installation you might wanna try copying the contents of the disk first to your desktop and install from there rather than off the disk itself.

  • wolfetho, you have registered with two very similar emails - the one ending on @mail.msu.edu is the one your orchestral strings are registered to (and your ViennaKey), the other one is registered for the newsletter only and i'd assume i can deactivate it. please use the first one to login.

the installation problem ocures if a DVD-drive runs too hot (a problem which we unfortunately often notice on 1.25 GHz macs like *mirrordoors*) - i'd assume it is one of the earlier superdrive models which might run currently out of their lifecycle ....
please make sure it doesn't run too hot during installation, pause a few minutes when changing the DVDs or copy the files step-by-step to a location on your harddrive and run the installer from there. if possible try to use another drive.
the most inconveniant thing is that OSX doesn't report if copying failed and the errormessage during installing says: package.info is corrupt which leads in a wrong direction ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hello CM:

Do I need to install the VI software again? I already installed it when I installed the first VI (Orchestral Strings!).Also, are you saying I should copy the disks to another drive and then run the installer which will install all of the files in order?

    Thanks,

    Tom

  • there is no need to install the Vienna Instruments software again (unless you upgrade to a newer version though) - there is an application named *library installer* which just asks for the location of the file *package.info* (this location can be any temporary folder on your mounted volumes).

please make sure your DVD keeps as cool as possible during copying the files, otherwise the copy-process already fails and you will see the errormessage again.
