  • I had a theory above, but from what you said about dropping the low-mid range frequencies stopping the distortion, possibly proves it wrong, although who knows. Is it all the pieces or just that one? Did you also have the sound enhancer turned on? If so could you try it with the sound enhancer off and the eq off is it still a problem, and also try turning off the auto volume feature.

  • got an answer from ITMS :

    ------------------------
    Dear Cyril,

Thank you for contacting the iTunes Store team.

We have researched the issue you reported and have verified that the artist intended the slow tempo. This song employs a special mixing technique. Songs that use this technique are called "chopped and screwed".

To learn more about the origins of the "Chopped and Screwed" mixing technique, please check out the Wikipedia entry:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chopped_and_screwed

If you ever have a question about the version of the song you are about to purchase, please listen carefully to the song preview. To preview a song, double-click on the song or audio book in the iTunes Music Store and the preview will play.

When you listen to a song preview in the iTunes Music Store, you're listening to the actual song that is available for purchase. The song preview is not a separate file.

    Sincerely,

    Pierre,
    The iTunes Music Store team

  • To quote Ace Ventura - Pet Detective.... "Allrighty Then".

I suggest you respond that this has nothing to do with itunes music store or any files purchased from there, and is an itunes playback issue of an mp3 file with the sound enhancer turned on.

If it helps, the mp3 file was encoded using Logic Pro and was properly dithered (both times in fact it seems the original had nothing wrong with it afterall) and mastered, and is not a chopped and screwed mix which clearly has nothing to do with anything here!? [8-)] [[:|]] The loudest peak of the file is -0.2db. For all intents and purposes this could be a final master ready for cd production or distribution on the itunes store and in my opinion as far as I know this is clearly a bug in itunes.

    Regards,
    Miklos.
