  • VI Dir. Manager Question/Idea

Given that patch folders disappear from the VI console once in a while, I've been wondering if it wouldn't be better to somehow include some sort of Directory Manager right in the console rather than as a separate application.

It seems that when directories get lost, that it would be quite convenient to simply make the reconnection right in the console via some sort of "finder" feature. This would (?) avoid the necessity of closing the DAW, starting the DM, deleting the folders, reinserting them, rebooting the computer... etc. That's the routine that works every time currently.

I noticed that even the installer opens a "finder" menu automatically without having to start the DM, although the DM now has to be updated after a new installation is done.

Somehow, it seems to be rather redundant-- but I guess my question is whether there is any real advantage to have the DM as a separate app rather than integrated into the VI Console...?

    Thanks.
