  • External USB hard drives on a network

Has anyone tried running the VSL VI samples from a USB 2 hard drive attached to a Local Area Network 100 Mbs?

Trying to leave the land of the single computer behind. It's a brave new world. [:D]

    Thanks,
    Jay

  • Seems to be working so far at least at the most basic level. Also discovered that I can use the DVD drive across the network. My second computer is barebones and didn't come with one but now I can just set the DVD drive to share and use it across the network on my second computer. Who knew? Cool!

    Best,
    Jay

Jay, how do you get on with the External HD speed? And do you have the opportunity to install gigabit ethernet on both boxes? I'm using a simple external USB HD on the laptop (G4), and it goes ok, but i'm thinking of branching out a little.
(Have to keep things portable as i'm only 'visiting' Moscow (2 years so far!), although with the work coming in, i just may consider a more permanent base here.)

    Regards,

    Alex.
