  • struggling with syncrosoft error

hey guys. on a dual 2.5 g5 mac (6 gigs of ram)

it's all been running fine (got the full cube) then this morning, the gremlins are playing up. Loading up digital performer, it says:

SYNCROSOFT USB ERROR. there's a problem with the usb device.please remove device and put it in another port.

noe i know these messages come up from time to time for no apparent reason, but normally i just pull the vienna key out and plug it back in. this isn't working this time. eek [:O]ops: I can see the red light on, on the dongle, so that's fine. (it's plugged into the front port of the g5), i've restarted the computer 9 times now, still no joy, and i've got a director flying in in about 2 hours. ARGH!

anyone got any quick bright ideas? i haven't done anything different than usual.

    thanks...

  • Hey Paul,

Try using a different USB Hub, that's all I had to do....Funny thing was that the one that DIDN"T work for me was a powered one from Belkin. Then I tried a really cheap one from them, that was bus powered only , and that one has been just great. Hope this helps. Of courde, if you can, plug it straight in without a hub.

    Good luck [;)]

  • that's just the point, and the weird thing.

usually i've got it attached to my keyboard, but after i got this error, i have attached it straight to the computer. i.e. it's not on ANY hub. and it's still giving me this error message.

    any more ideas?

  • Hey Paul--

It is odd when this happens. Syncrosoft-- Grrr!!

Sometimes it catches and sometimes it doesn't. I don't have a definitive solution for you, but try these to see if they help:

    1. Start a new empty template without VI loaded. Than load an instance. If that wakes things up, try loading your project.

    2. Start your DAW without the dongle loaded. Then, put the dongle in and follow step 1.

    3. Delete LCC and reinstall it, even if it's the same version. Then, redo your VI Manager by deleting everything in there and MANUALLY putting it all back-- then see step 1.

    4. Shut the computer down. Go kiss your wife. Take a long steaming hot shower, have a bowl of ice cream, go for a walk, then see step 1.

  • JWL, i owe you a beer.

restarted computer 18th time. opened a new project in DP. loaded up a VI. works fine.

    bizarre.

no time for no. 4 [:D] and there goes my doorbell - director here. thankyou SO much. i really wish syncrosoft would get their stuff together. NOT what you need for this kind of money...

    thanks once again.

  • Very cool!!

"Sometimes it catches, sometimes it doesn't." So strange.

    Did you say "beer"? [[:|]]

  • Hi,

get the latest LCC (5.0.4.0) from www.syncrosoft.com. The key detection problem has been solved in this version.

    WWWWWHHHHAAAAATTTTT???

I keep re-reading this and can't believe my eyes. But I'd love to know just what it means before I update with no turning back...

-- that the time lag has been reduced or eliminated with key detection?

    -or-

-- that the time lag remains but the reliability of the key detection has been improved?
