  • New MIDI Mockups

During the last few weeks I did not contribute anything to the forum, because of intense work. But I did read every day and I am still a very convinced VSL user [:D]
Today I did upload a page dedicated to MIDI Mockups to my website. It includes works from Mussorgsky-Ravel (Picture Of an Exhibition), Bizet (wonderful music!), Bach, Zoltan Kodaly, which have all been remixed during the last 2 weeks, and some of my own compositions including Yoruba, my most recent work, which will be premiered (live) in July during the World Saxophone Congress in Minneapolis. This piece does make intensive use of the effect percussion patches from VSL and other not very commonly used sounds…….It is based on African polyrhythm from Nigeria, but this influence is only technical, the piece has no folkloristic touch. All this production where made during the last 18 month, after having Garritan Strings and VSL, which I do consider being a real revolution in Sampling. If you like to listen, this is the link

Of course I would appreciate your comments, positive and negative. As a professional musician, which did start late in life using computers for making music, I would like to thank the people on the VSL and Garritan Forum for writing down all this wonderful audio tips which did help me so much. A very special thank you goes to Tom Hopkins, which did help me to make my first steps and to Dietz from VSL who’s advice is of very high value. And last but not least to the Sampling prophets Gary, Herb, Dan Dean, Peter Siedlaszcek and Myroslav.

I am looking forward to the Pro edition in order to be able to finish the “Pictures”…. [[;)]]

  • Gnomus is not bad. It really needs some instruments from the Pro Edition. You may want to consider using a tremolo patch for the 'spooky' string glissandi parts. If you have the Garitan strings, those may work better for the string glissandi.
