  • Setting Up a Template

    Hey all,

We've been posting all these threads about technical problems with VI, and there have been a lot of demos on the site, but, unless i've missed somethine somewhere, I don't think there's been much talk of Templates.

I've been thinking a lot, for a long time, about what kinds of templates I'd like to set up. Now that I'm getting a slave computer really running in the room, and that I have to start thinking about license distribution with the VI dongles, I'm starting to wonder how to set things up...some things that come to mind:

-which libraries do I want on the slave? percussion, strings, solo strings only...? what would be my best option?

-how do I want to set up my templates?...especially with an external device, where I have to set up MIDI channels in master, and aux tracks for audio returns, plus instrument tracks/midi tracks in the slave?

What's everyone's template setup out there? How do you have things set up to help you work as fast as possible?

right now, I'm sort of just building each Logic file as I go along...right now, I'm not doing enough work to have regular templates that I use...haha, except for a marching band template (about 25 instruments and 16 audio tracks for the brass live records) that I really only have created for 1 project with 3 parts.

Any thoughts out there on how YOU have your studio, and your DAWs set up?
