  • Another Syncrosoft Issue

I just purchased the extended Brass I and extended Solo String libraries.

Both would not register on Syncrosoft. Both took a long time to process, then (the the progress bar about halfway), stated: "Internet connection to license server could not be established. Please check your Internet connection."

I attempted to re-register, and both told me that code had already been used.

The number of demos on Brass I seemed to refresh from 8 starts left to 30.

Solo Strings extended does not appear in Logic. (I had never used the demo code.)

The Syncrosoft device scanner says that both are installed, though the icon next to them shows a little arrow between the keys. (Other registered libraries have a slightly different icon.)

Please advise. And remember, whenever I attempt to re-register, the Download Wizard tells me the codes have already been used.

    Syncrosoft....

  • Hi Plowman,

I wanted to check your account, but you didnĀ“t register under the email you have in your forum profile, I donĀ“t know your real name by heart, and am having a hard time to help you this way...

You do see both Extended Library licenses in your LCC, right?
This is on a Mac, correct?

The more info I can get, the better [:)]

    Best,

    Paul

  • i'd recommend to add some information about used platform, version of software, registration info, ect - we're quite good at guessing here, but you could help us a lot and speed up finding the source of the problem and a solution that way.

in case you email support@vsl.co.at regarding registration problems please include your serialnumbers, but do not post serials or codes here!
thank you for your cooperation, christian

  • Hi Paul. I'll contact you. I had been contacted by Christian on other matters, so I thought I was accessible on the VSL records.

But I also thought the forum might glean some other users with similar issues. Or they may benefit from my experience.

Yes, this is on a Mac G5 1.8 dual. While registering, I experienced inordinately long "Checking Internet Connection" prompts. Then "Checking eLicensers" seemed abnormally long. Finally, as noted, it hung in the progress bar mid-way. I've registered three other L2 licenses without a problem earlier this year.

My LLC Device Manager now reads:

    (Upgrade) (Master) Collection / Vienna Instrument / Brass I / Brass I L2
(Upgrade) (Master) Collection / Vienna Instrument / Solo Strings / Solo Strings L2

Again, next to both of these, there's a small icon of a key, then a little green arrow pointing to another key. On my properly functioning Level 2 icons in LLC, there's what seems to be three keys, a blue and a red one poking out from under the first yellow key. So something looks different.

To further complicate the matter, I experienced a demo * refresh * somehow when I tried to launch the extended Brass I library on LLC. I was down to two. Then it jumped back to 30. Since then, with use, it's declined again to 22.

I mention this because L2 Brass I instruments do show up in Logic, but they're there because of the demo, no doubt -- not because of the registration of the extended library.

The L2 Solo Strings do not appear at all. (I have an unused demo code for Solo Strings. But now I'm reluctant to complicate this anymore.)

  • sorry plowman, we don't have currently cross connections between forum and user area and i couldn't remember your realname.

don't worry to add extended demo licenses, they don't confuse anything if you add full extended licenses later
    christian

ps: btw - your email address from the forum generates an NDR *smtp;550 fullscore@earthlink.net...User unknown* from the earthlink mailserver ...

  • Hi Plowman,

you have successfully downloaded your licenses to your Vienna Key.
Do you see the licenses for all products (including Solo Strings and Brass I extended) in your Vienna Instrument (on the left side of the "Preset Select Page")?

Or is it the content you donĀ“t see? Did you restart your computer yet?

    Thanks for the info,

    Paul

  • Hi Folks. All of my Brass I L2 instruments appear on the left pane (the demo, I assume). But it only says "Solo Strings" without any mention of L2 Solo Strings. So what's being reported on the left is what I can access on the right (all Brass I L2, no Solo Strings L2).

I've booted numerous times between yesterday and today. It appears that I lose two demo starts each time I launch Logic.

Perhaps the L2 Solo Strings demo extension won't complicate things technically. But from a trouble-shooting perspective, I now have a Vienna key that reports both Brass I and Solo Strings L2's as registered. If I enable the demo, how would I know if VSL's long-term solutions have worked? LLC thinks it's all there already.

By the way, the functioning L2's (Orchestral Strings I and II and Woodwinds I) in LLC say, "(Master) Collection."

The one's not being recognized (Brass I and Solo Strings) say "(Upgrade) (Master) Collection."

  • plowman, i could imagine you have some expired demo licenses still on your key (and deny overrules allow) - please remove all expired (and not activatable) licenses. a screenshot of your LCC (having the lines expanded) would help to get a clearer picture - it would be great if you could email it to paul or me.
you have upgraded Strings1, Strings2 and Woodwinds1 using the same method as with Brass1 and SoloStrings, so it is not clear to me where the difference should be
    thx, christian

  • A PNG has been sent of my LLC with lines expanded.

"you have upgraded Strings1, Strings2 and Woodwinds1 using the same method as with Brass1 and SoloStrings, so it is not clear to me where the difference should be ."

Indeed. Me either. What concerns me most is that I never got to the "congratulations" screen in Syncrosoft for either Brass I L2 or Solo Strings L2 versions.

Instead, as mentioned, I got "Internet connection to license server could not be established. Please check your Internet connection." So I can't explain why the Vienna key says it was successfully downloaded.

  • thanks for providing the screenshot, a kind of interesting representation ...
i could imagine the following happened: you have downloaded the license successfully - after this procedure the standard license and the upgrade (master) license should merge to a *master* license. here the process seems to have been interrupted.
i'm sending a request for help and instructions to syncrosoft and another 180 starts demo-code to you - this should overcome your problem until we can solve it finally.

  • "you have downloaded the license successfully - after this procedure the standard license and the upgrade (master) license should merge to a *master* license. here the process seems to have been interrupted."

Yes sir, you are correct. Syncrosoft pointed me to the Wizards / License Upgrade... which repaired the issue (completing the merge of the previous license and the upgrade).

Strange that two separate download attempts would be interrupted at the same time.

Thanks to Paul and cm for their concern and assistance.
