  • Vienna Instruments plug-in on logic pro 7.2.1

I used the standalone VI solo strings and it works fine. But how does the plug-in/AU version work?
I cannot see the plug-in anywhere in logic.

Please, help would be very appreciated.

  • It should show up like any other V.I., so you may need to run the AU validation program and see if it shows up there. If not, reinstall the Vienna Instruments player.

  • Sorry if I don´t understand; do I have to download the "Audio Units Validation Tool" from the "developer.apple.com" website? Isn´t this only applicable if you have created a compliant audio unit or audio unit hosting application for Mac OSX yourself?

Sorry, what is the "Vienna Instruments Player"? Do you mean the Vienna Instruments Software?

    Sorry I´m new to this.

  • Emek,

Make sure you have the latest version of the VI instrument. Go to VSL's website to find info.

Logic automatically, or should automatically, scan for new Audio Units. If it finds them, it will check them, and confirm that they are "AU compliant". I own the Vienna VI, and it does pass the AU validator, and does show up in Logic.

I seem to remember their being something "special" that had to be done with this VI. Whether it was for Logic specifically, or just OSX, I can't remember. But it's all in the literature that comes in the box. Check it out...

  • You have to use an audio instrument for it in the environment of Logic. There you can choose different plug-ins. All this is explained in the manuel of Logic.

  • Thanks for the help to all of you!

It seems that there was a problem with the intel OSX version of the vienna software. After trying to reinstall the VI software that came with the DVD installer, nothing changed. The plug-in was still not showing up.

But then I tried downloading the newest beta version of the VI software (version 1.06) and after installing it, voilá, the plug-in showed up in logic pro!

    Thanks again!
