    Looking for ideas for utilizing the velocity vrossfade on/off switch. I often need to use the croosfade function for crescs and diminuendos, but want to be able to switch the feature on and off, in real time. Presently I use the sustain pedal cc64, but when I depress to turn on the crossfade function it also the notes to sustain. Is there a way to turn thte sustain function, since I don not need this with my orchestral istruments? Or has someone have a better way to switch the feature on and off?

    Hello,
    Don't know about your sequencer, but in general it's simple to change controller number in another number ..In Cubase for example, you can insert a plugin in the midi tack :
    - insert the plugin "transformer" in the midi track and write:
    Add line Type is ---Equal------ Controller
    Add Line Midi Controller No------ Equal ----64

    And down (under action target)
    Add Line Value 1 ------Set to fixed value---- CCxx
    xx= the no of the controller you want to assign to your sustain pedal

    Store the preset and recall it when needed
    if you want to make it permanent you can use after the function Midi/merge midi in loop

    I wouldn't be too hasty about getting rid of sustain as it can be very useful. For example if you are playing a melodic line ad you have a repeated note it can help fill the inevitable gap. Also if you want to force a start note (for a harder tonguing or change of bow) then you can make a note short enough to leave a gap and again fill it with sustain.

    Thanks that is exactly what I need. I use Cubase, but have not needed to do this before. Dg, I appreciate the warning and will use thiscarefully.

    Jay,

    You have to have another controller point on your keyboard. Perhaps a slider, foot pedal, etc. On my S90 i use the 'pan slider' to turn the velXfade on and off. Works like a charm. Use it on every instrument group.
