Two days ago, my five-months-old PowerMac G5 Quad refused to boot, even from a CD, and today the Apple dealer who is going to repair it told me that the processors are broken, and that the delivery time for replacement processors might be as long as several weeks... [:'(]
So now I am considering buying a Mac Mini as an interim solution. After all, when I get my PowerMac back, I can use the Mac Mini as a slave to host additional VIs (see my other thread).
But one problem comes to my mind: Digital Performer is not yet available as a universal binary, so on an Intel computer it runs under the Rosetta emulation mode. I've been told that PowerPC applications can't run plug-ins in an Intel-native mode; they force these plug-ins to run in Rosetta emulation mode. Does this hold for the VI's as well, when they are run under Digital Performer?
