  • I need help with pricing.

I'm interested in getting the full orchestra package with one or 2 horizon volumes. I'm trying to figure the cost for every sample available up to now.

I see the VSL Standard Library, VSL Extended, and then VSL pro.

Are all three of these needed to be purchased or over 14k or so to get the full library?

    Hi and welcome Sonrise!

There are 2 basic distinctions that need to be taken into consideration when you are choosing your products:

We have released the Pro Edition (for GigaStudio and EXS24) and the Horion Series (Giga, EXS24, HALion, Kontakt) within the last years.

These are "Sample Libraries" that need an additional player like the ones mentioned above. Additionally there is the Performance Tool, that enables you to play Performance Instruments like the famous Performance Legato.

NOW there is the Symphonic Cube, that has a dedicated player especially developed for and by the Vienna Symphonic Library. It has a lot of great features, and most of all, you can stay on 1 MIDI Channel for 1 instrument!!

Please have a look at our Video Tutorials here to get a good overview.

You can also contact me with further questions at p.steinbauer@vsl.co.at

Oh, and you will find some FAQ´s here.

    Best,

  • Yes, I saw the tutorials.

My guess is that the performance tool with the Symphonic Cube is the way to go. EVEN though I do have EXS24, it probably will not emulate nearly as well as the specialized performance tool, as well as be as user friendly.

So, in essence to make sure, I should only pick on then? That being the Orchestral Cube.

Also, how does the horizon series play into this. Is it also available to be used on the Performance software, or is it already speicialized for EXS24.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Hi Sonrise,

I´m afraid you are mixing up our products.

The Symphonic Cube consists of 10 collections, and some of them (like Chamber Strings or Solo Strings) also contain the content of the Horizon Series products (just double the amount of samples and a much greater playability).

There are some Horizon Series products that are not available for the VI (yet), like the Concert Guitar. But you can also get these for EXS24 and then simply upgrade to a Vienna Instruments version, when it is ready.

I´d say, it´s best to start with some collections of the Symphonic Cube and get a grip, then add everything else you like....

    Best,

    Paul

  • Ah, so epic horns would be included in the cube then? That is one of the main libraries out of Horizon I wanted.

  • Yes, Epic Horns are included in the Brass II Collection.
