  • Perhaps a stupid question: about performance?

    hello,
Is there a difference in performance if I use for example one Vienna key with three licences or If I use three Usb Key dongle with one licence/key?

Why this kind of question?: Because I'm not sure, "safe?" about Usb Key!!

In one key I put Wavelab 6.0 and Vi solo strings ,and if with, for a problem electrostatic or something else the key would be damaged, I could imagine a scenario like this: Vienna and Steinberg would like that I return the damaged key as proof ?!...And I think I must loose a lot of time to be able to work again with these products. But perhaps am'I a little "parano!"
So I imagine perhaps one key for each library

    What do you think?
    Best regards
    Dup

  • Hello Dup,

I am not sure, but may be this is a hint. I have all my licencies on one Vienna key. But I have 3 other Syncrosoft relating Keys from Steinberg in use as well. I think, that the first startup of my setup takes a bit longer, if they are also pluged in. But I don't see any difference, when everything is running. I did not count it with a clock, so may be, that this is just a subjective view.

On the other hand it seems to make sense to have different keys for parts of VSI, if you plan to split the library on to more than one computer. As of the concept of the libraries' copyprotection, a single VSI-module can't be splitted and has to remain on one computer. ( am I right? - i read this somewhere else )

    Best regards,
    hans

  • I have eight dongles on my main machine. It doesn't appear to make a difference.
