  • so to speak an *upgrade license* is something you download by entering a code for an extended library.
in your case it looks like the transfer of the *master license* aka *standard library* is pending - is this right?

  • Hope you don't mind if I join in, but it seems I have just fallen into a similar predicament, except that I am not transfering any codes from one dongle to another.
I was trying to download my WWd II licenses through the wizard when it stopped following an error message about something else trying to access the protection device. This was confucing as all I had done is launched Firefox (something I would suggest you don't do as you try and complete a download - it appears to play havock with the dongles. I'm beginning to note that when Firefox has been started, my VI doesn't work, but have yet to confirm this for certain.).

I restarted the LCC as per instructed and began the process again only to be told that I had a 'transfer pending' license and in order to continue I had to have the other protection device connected to complete the process - I only have one and I was downloading not transfering. It wants me to select a target device, and the only one I have it won't let me select.

    What should I do...?

Once I have this sorted I also know that I have to work out why I never get a VI interface when I start up, either in stand alone mode, or from within Logic as an AU. It gets as far a scanning licences, bounces in the dock for a while before proceeding to do nothing further. In Logic it just spins the magic colourful ball at me. As a stand alone, it does nothing.

It was all working so beautifully before the new parts arrived, and now it doesn't work at all, (oh woe is me and all that...). I've redone all the files in the manager, restarted countless times, and all to no avail. The only thing I don't think I've done correctly is putting in a Vienna Intruments Custom Data file on the internal HD - where would it live if not in with the samples on my external HD?

    All ideas gratefully recieved.

  • Much the same situation still, Nick.... it WAS all working so well

I got a new dongle with the first five sets, loaded them onto computer 1, decided to put the next five sets onto computer 2 for processing reasons, had a Cubase dongle on that machine, after loading two extra licences the dongle says "full", so I got in touch with Time & Space, ordered a new Vienna key, when it arrived started to transfer all licences to it, transferred Cubase ok, next I tried Woodwinds II, and here I still am, two days later, cant either go forward or back, can't load the remaining libraries 'cos I cant load their licences.......

I'm deep in the brown stuff....session starting Monday morning, having promised great things....ho hum!

  • Just struck me...I too am firefox.....anything there?

  • Hey Andy

Just started a new thread as not only can I not finish this transfer business, but since I started adding all the new instruments I've not been able to launch VI at all. Been trying again since I put up the reply above, including starting the machine and not opening anything but VI. I think it's Syncrosoft not Firefox, though the transfer problem may have been related to me launching Firefox as it was downloading the licence. However, I had problems with the first round of VI samples and Syncrosoft. Turned out for that one I needed a powered hub for my USBs - this new problem might be slightly more complicated than a conflict with Firefox, though. I wouldn't know where to start to discover if it is a conflict.

Do you have any of the original VSL still working or are you relying on the VI for that extra bit of finesse? It may be more work and need a lot of freezing tracks, (not a great prospect admittedly) but you could still get some sharp results from the old packages. Fairly banall advice I'm afraid, but I'm with you in spirit, though fortunately not in location - more brown sticky stuff doesn't appeal at the moment! If I manage to crack a solution, you'll be the first to know, but please don't hold your breath (just your nose).

Enough with the cheap gags - I hope you, me or someone works something out as I can't believe it's just us - it's not like it's rocket science! Best of luck.

    Keep the faith,

    Nick

  • nick, i don't think it's anything to do with firefox. whilst i have been (touch wood) generally lucky with the syncrosoft stuff (even though it takes ages to load the first time), i too get this USB thing occassionally, where it tells me i have a problem with the woodwinds, and to put the dongle in another port. I tend to restart the computer, give it 5 minutes, disconnect the dongle and reinsert it, making the sure the red light's on on the dongle. (sometimes, for some reason, the red light doesn't come on without me doing this), and then startiong up Digital Performer again. Then seems to work fine. man, this syncrosoft thing is a pain...

  • Paul,
I agree and in fact am beginning to wonder if I don't have a faulty usb port on the front of my tower. Problem is getting fixed means taking a day off to drag the thing up to London and Regent Street - not helped by the fact it's an American voltage model as I was living more permanently in the States when I bought it. (The Apple Store where it came from promised me that the cover would last when I moved, but they lied!) And even then, I'm not convinced that it will solve it - the dongle is far more likely to be the culprit.

I'm absolutely stumped. I've done all the things things you tried too but to no avail, and I'm hoping one of the moderators looks at my other thread and offers a new way to expolore. My next effort is being directed towards re-installing the woodwinds II and re-linking all the files, again, though I fear the dongle will still hold the same information. Also, something about a Custom FIle I still don't understand and may be affecting the whole problem. I'll be on and off the forum all day, but, no doubt like so many others, I just don't have time to deal with this at the moment.

What would happen if I deleted the WWd II off the dongle and started the process of installing them again? Would a new temporary license be placed on the Dongle during the install and would I then be able to complete the License Download? Is it possible then to get another unlock code from VSL or do I use the original one still? Any ideas? Would this process also help Andy at all, presuming it would work?

  • Hello Christian

    Any developments with Syncrosoft?

It seems there are quite a few people with license transfer/download problems again.

I have a "Transfer pending" license on eacgh of two keys, so I cant go ahead or backwards......

    Andy

  • andy ... is there a third key in the play? i can only see 2 registered ....
did the error occure when you tried to move WW2 to an older steinberg key?

  • Hi Christian

No, just two keys, one [the old one] a Steinberg Cubase key, and a new Vienna key.

I dont believe that either of these could cause the problem, but lets eliminate them anyway:

1] I had not registered the new Vienna key on your website prior to transferring
I have done so since, but I don't believe this should cause a transfer problem?

    2] I started with WWII...should I have done WW I first?

However, I am now all locked up and can't do a lot......
well, I suppose that means I can watch the football....
