Dear folks,
I'm sorry if this has been covered before and i'm sure its a very elementary question...i guess I'm just missing something. I have looked over the "Velocity Layer Switch" matrix provided in the introduction for the Vienna Manual on each instrument. What I don't understand is how to find each of the dynamic levels within these layers. For example, in a patch with two layers, can one just assume that PPP to MP is covered in layer one (1-88 or 0-69.29 within vienna), and MF to FFF is covered in layer 2 (89-127 or 69.29-100 within vienna) ? What about a patch with 5 velocity layers? I'm just trying to understand what midi numbers i should be using for each dynamic for each velocity layer, for each number of said layers. So, lets say I want PPP crescendo to P with a patch that has 2 velocity layers....can this be acheived using Vel X-fade? I guess i just need to know where the threshold is between each dynamic in terms of the VI layers.
Thanks in advance for any help. Sorry for the basic question.
