No never. And I have had Solo Strings, Chamber Strings, Orchestral Strings 1+2 and I think Woodwinds on 1 key at one point.

drew, unfortunately i could not locate your record in our database (you must have registered with some other name) so i couldn't look at details, but:
most probably you are using a rather *old* steinberg key to hold the licenses - those have limited space. you could either use a second key or get a newer one (eg. ViennaKey), which are capable to hold up to 100 licenses or more.

Also, there's a trashcan where old licenses are held on the dongle. I have no idea how much memory that frees up, but if it's full you might try emptying it.

I have sent you an e-mail with my user name, so you check your records.

My dongle is about 3 years old.

But it only has
- a cubase licence o it
- solo strings licence on it

in actual fact it has the L2 items, appearing in view, BUT it also reports that the licence wasn't fully loaded and hence will not work.

And it worked fine last month when I loaded the demo L2 licences.

I do not accept at all that the Syncrosoft dongle can only hold 2 licences.

drew, i have not receive an email until now .... but now you mention *not fully loaded* i'd assume what the problem is - a *hanging* license (your connection to the server has been interrupted during a license download).

solution would be to repeat the download of the license where this happened. in case this does not work we can provide a *cancel* code to allow you to start again from scratch.

Right now am I feeling rather unhappy as my new extended Solo Strings (bought from Sabine yesterday) won't load, and my new Altiverb is crashing my sequencers.

I think the two are probably related.

I have tried many times to re-start the downlaod wizard, andmany times to empty the trashcan. It keeps failing at the same point.

Not only did I empty the trashcan, I also removed the *expired* L2 demo licences. (One good design element of Syncrosoft is that it does not appear to let you remove permenant licences .. they are always greyed out.)

drew, (sorry - didn't look for andy) the license download protocol dosn't show any irregularities .... does your LCC still show any (probably expired) datelicenses? if so please try to remove them, they might prevent loading the respective instruments (deny overrules allow .... you know)

There is nothing else on my device tree that I can delete.

Here is the puzzle.


- when VSL VI starts the L2 licences are not there
- in the device tree the L2 licences are there
- when syncrosoft starts up, it says "a download was interrupted, please re-start again".
- synchrsoft does have a record of the interuppted downloaded and starts a wizard to try to complete it, but its keep failing at the same point, with the message "memory full".
- I have emptied my trash can so many times, and tried to restart the wizard, my keyboard is nearly worn out.
- there are absolutely no demo licences left on the device

drew, i'd assume it is what it says: there is not enough space for the extended license on your protection device. do you have by chance access to another key? this will not happen with more recent keys ....

Well I have ordered a Vienna key to solve the problems of my "full" syncrosoft. Hope it works.

1. Have bought new Vienna key
2. Succesfully transferred Cubase and Standard Vienna solo strings licence to Vienna key
3. Successfully completed download of Extended library to OLD key. (It instsisted on completing the download to the old key).
4. VI now sees all my licences even though they are spreadh across two keys.

5. Here's the rub ... the licence control centre does not allow me to trnasfer the Master Upgarde library to my new Vienna key. This licence is greyed out in the transfer screen.

I want to consolidate all my licence onto the new key.
Perhaps the easist way would be to cancel the licence on my old key, and just have you guys send me a new one which I will upload directly onto the Vienna key.
