  • 3 GB switch / MOL CP PE / and SP2 question

    Mattias (and others),

The two slaves I had converted to SP2 (to run the 3 GB switch) now do not communicate via MOL with my master DAW??

I know it has to be something simple.

These two PC's are 'seen' on the network (can share files between them and the master DAW) - BUT no MOL communication [*-)]

I don't know if it is the SP2 update, becuase one of my other new PC slaves has been running SP2 and MOL successfully for 6 months.

The only thing (besides now having the 3 GB switch) on those two other slaves, is the SP2 update.

Anyone have an idea how to resolve?

(I have tried turning the PC's on in different order but to now avail.)

    Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • Anyone, anyone at all?

In the past, whenever I have had a slave not communicating via MOL - rebooting seems to do the trick (or hard shutdown the switch for a couple minutes). Tried all this and cannot get MOL to recieve on two of my slaves.

Again - I have the 'red' activity outgoing light go on (main Daw) but no cooresponding red activity light on the incoming 2 slaves.

Really pullin' my hair out on this one.

Could one possible solution be - since on these two PC's I updated to SP2 that I need to uninstall MOL CP PE on those two machines and then reinstall??? I just don't want to have to go through the registration and config thing AGAIN

....But if it means getting those two PC's up and going again - I'll do it.

(I don't see how SP2 updating could affect MOL - MOL is so simple and it even recommends on their site to have SP2 installed. Perhaps the problem is having MOL CP PE installed on SP1 and updating to SP2 - throwing something for a loop (a SP2 network thing)????

  • Rob,

I'm not using MoL since a couple of years, but this is my guess:

If the Windows Firewall is enabled you probably need to configure it for MoL by adding the MoL app or the relevant port number the MoL uses under Exceptions.

    Hi Mattias,

I believe I have disabled the Windows firewall - but I will check. Do you see any problems with having the Windows firewall disabled?

    Thanks in advance.

    Rob

  • No, but if the machine is on the net it's of course a good thing to have it enabled for safety reasons.

Right o. Thanks Mattias for the assist.

For others using MOL - here is the pdf that shows how to allow MOL through

    Hope this helps.
