    hi.

    my experience with the 3GB switch and LAA:

    just edited the boot.ini - no problem!
    system restarts properly
    tried to "patch" VStack (PC) as mathias advised to do ...

    after that VStack starts properly, but when i try to load a VI performance it told me "the file is corrupted"

    loading a new empty VI instance works, but the GUI tells ma "no licences installed"

    does anyone patched VStack succesfully or is it impossible??
    which host do you "succesful" patcher use?

    p.s. second half of the cube just arrived, now i need more ram to use the new
    instruments ...

    VStack works fine when patched according to the people I know who uses it so the problem is probably caused by something else... You could also that VStack really got patched correctly by using my small LaaTiDo utility which you find at http://www.musikbanken.se/laatido%20setup.exe">http://www.musikbanken.se/laatido%20setup.exe. I know...I really should update the post at the top... [:)]

    Hello,
    Perhaps it can help : On my machine 3gb with the /3Gb switch, I experrienced this:
    If I don't put /userva2500 The Vtsi Vi instruments in cubase sx tells me :no licences and the preset are empty but the Vienna standalone is Ok!!

    hi mathias...

    just tried your little application to patch VStack.exe.
    it told me that the patch was succesfull.

    but while starting up the application there´s an error prompt saying:
    "The system drivers for GigaStudio are not currently loaded. if this situation continous please contact technical support. should i try to load the drivers now?"

    <yes> <no>

    i choosed <yes> than there´s another prompt calls "giga system error" plus a few unreadable signs ...

    clicked <ok> ...

    VStack starts.

    tried to load an empty VI instance, there´s another error:

    "Applikation hat den folgenden fehler verursacht: (application caused the following error[:)]
    Sld file could not be read properly"

    after that no way to get VStack work ...

    Hm...did you try to add the /userva switch in boot.ini that Dup mentioned?

    there´s no giga VST adapter on the machine installed,
    only the "normal gigastudio 3", without ever made any tweaks to it ...

    just tried to add the /userva switch as Dup (thanks!!) described ...

    now it works.

    adressing ram up about 2GB - no problem
    tried to add another level 2 legato matrix (230 MB) crashed VStack.
    "a seriously problem ..." (knowing that error if i jump over the ram limit)

    what is the maximum ram with the /userva switch?

    That depends on the value you put after the /userva switch. You enter the switch as /userva=XXXX where XXXX is the desired limit in megabytes.

    thanks a lot.
    just added the value 3000 to the /userva switch.
    everything´s working without any errors ...

    just addressed 2,7 GB RAM with VStack! great!!

    is it possible to add the value 3500 (4 GB RAM in this machine) without
    "stressing" windows?

    Nope. The maximum valid userva value is 3030. 3GB for one user-mode process is the theoretical maximum in 32-bit XP.
