  • Horn Release Samples

Please forgive me if this has been discussed already:

The Horn Release Sample mapping is incorrect. I am using the EXS version, so I'm not sure if it's specific to that platform, but the HO_RS, HO_oV_na_sus+RS and HO_LV_na_sus+RS instruments are all affected. I thought I was really losing my mind as I could hear the wrong pitches at the release of a horn part...

I haven't noticed this in any other instruents so far.

    with best wishes,
    John

  • hi john,

i just checked the horn instruments you mentioned, on my system and from the dvd, and the mapping is correct in both cases?!?

the only thing i can imagine is, if you play the _sus notes as short as a _stac note, the release sample espacially in ff is triggered before the tone has fully developed and the sound of the release sample then is quite different (much more partials in it) to the _sus note at the beginning.
so it sounds as if the release sample is a little bit higher then the original played note. but in fact its the right release sample there.

if this all is not right for your instrument, something must have happend to it, and if you like me to do so, i just can e-mail you the .exs files once more, or if you havenĀ“t tried yet, you can just copy the .exs file once more from the original dvd.

    best regards

  • Thanks, Chris - I reloaded the instruments from the DVD and all is as it should be. I checked the mapping for a few notes and there were many strange things - for example C2 had the mfD4, mfC2, pD#3 and mfC2 wavs mapped to it.
I didn't know that this could happen to an EXS instrument. Is there some way for me to avoid it?

    with best wishes,
    John
