  • quick bassoon patch mismatch???

    Howdy all,

    Quick question:..ok 2 questions

    Working with standard VI library...

I load up L1 BA-3 Perf-Legato Speed matrix, no problems..
In Cell 1:1, there's a 01 BA-3_perf-leg-sustain patch that I can't find in my file structure to the right (on my patch assign window), I can find the other 2 (perf-legato and perf-legato-fa)...so where's perf-leg-sustain patch?

also, this matrix is monophonic (understandibly so)...what if I want to create moving lines that are more than 1 voice..say, parallel lines in 3rds?...other than adding another bassoon instance...

again, I understand the need for monophonic usage for the "performance tool" aspect of VI...do I need to be using the BA3-sus patch for polyphonic passages (which, of course, means Level 2 usage)...just wanted to see what my options were.

  • You can find 01 BA-3_perf-leg-sustain in folder 98 RESOURCES/03 Speed variation.
There are no exclusive samples included in this patch, the mapping parameters are slightly different fitting for slower movements, basically the repetiton stuff. That's why this patch is stored in this folder.

If you want to have polyphonic perfornance legato you have to open a 2nd instance.

BA-3 are the ensemble bassons, three bassoons performed unisono. They are useful when the score asks for two to four bassoons performing unisono lines.

  • Thanks Herb,

Thanks what I thought about the unison stuff.
