  • Sibelius Midi Controller Messages

Trying to get Sibelius to communicate with the VI I have managed to recreate all the examples in the first two video tutorials - Patches/Matrixes and Speed Control - using ~C1 for the mod wheel and keysitches, but I am struggling with the velocity crossfader.

What midi controller messages do I have to imbed in a sibelius score to control the velocity cross fader in the VI?

  • David, it's sort of the other way round...! You decide what controller you want to use and then set VI to "learn" it. For example, mine is set to some sort of MIDI controller number that doesn't even have a function normally.

My suggestion would be to decide which controller you want to use. Set up the VI instrument in Sonar as it will be easier to access the controller information). Once you have stored this in your "instrument" just use a plugin to send the controller info from Sib.

    DG, good morning

I wondered about that but had trouble trying to get the VI to "learn" the midi function. I shall try again - bear in mind I am only using sibelius and not a keyboard as well - if that makes any difference!

As to Sonar - whilst I have it - I haven't yet learnt it to any degree (I tend to buy these things when there on special offer knowing I shall want to use them in the future).

Are you saying I won't be able to operate the V-xfade function in V-Stack?

  • OK another way.

    VI interface
    Click perform
    Right click velocity xfade
    Click controller list
    Click velocity crossfader
Click next to source where it says none
    Click ControlChange
Click to the right of Controller
Click which controller number you want to use.

Let me know how you get on
