  • VST version for Mac, when?

this has been asked before but maybe someone can name a release date how long we will have to wait for the mac vst version of VI

i am a litte time pressed with some projects and am considering spending my money on another product, as the VI i alread have is useless for me as cubase user on the mac

  • Sry, but I don't think there is any announced plans for releasing a Mac VST version at all.

  • Our software departement is working on RTAS anc OSX VST versions.
The RTAS version does have a little more priority.
Release hopefully in a few weeks.

    best

True, but they have said that they're working on a solution for Cubase and Nuendo.

Edit: Darn, Herb beat me to it [8o|]

  • Wow, that's great news for all of us Herb! [H]

Can't wait for the RTAS version. [:P]

  • Great news on the OS X VST. I cannot wait to get back to Cubase. I just can't get into the workflow of Logic as of yet.

Yes it is good news, as VSL has already lost a few customers by sticking to AU.

I think that we all have different experiences. I could have typed exactly the same as you did, but swapped the words PC for Mac and vice versa. I don't really know why people think that PCs are a problem. If you buy from a company that makes PCs exclusively for audio use, then the system should be more reliable and cheaper than a Mac.

    DG

  • i agree with the price, a good pc might indeed be cheaper, but for me it was more a mather of function than cost [:)]
i have tried many pc's, believe me... i grew up with them as i grew up with their bugs....
i'm very happy now, no more probs, except slow development of certain want-have-tools [;)]

    Hahahahahahah!

I would rather have 4 current Mac Intels that take 2 gigs of ram any day over a glorified word processor. And they're cheaper than 'exclusive for audio' (wah haha!) PC's.

The cost thing is a myth.

Yeah, Paul I get it; you don't like PCs. [8-)]

  • we have actually had 3 pc's in our shop, which all crapped at various times, particulary when ever you need them most, and they had not much more to do than run internet explorer for an intranet application and a cash register.... now they're all minimacs, no more problems and all day time for nothing than proper work [:)]

i never got cubase to run on the mac. even with the latest updates. on mac i'm not sure i ever installed an update..

Yeah - blue screen of death with PC's. Stick in a DVD of say, The Mummy Returns into a PC and you'll need a seat belt. Going onto the internet on a PC should carry a health warning.

And why bother with Cubase when you can use Logic? Cubase compared to Logic is bollocks.

Oh dear, someone steal your happy pills?

Anyway, Cubase compared to (or even with) Logic is the dog's bollocks [:D]

  • i remember the frankfurt musikmesse last year, where i spoke to some salesman of steinberg, right after watching the vienna presentation...

i just asked him how about wavelab for mac
he said "no sorry, what for?" right when all the plasma screens at their booth got a bluescreen of death
i laughed and went of yelling "there for!"

    LOL

  • Well,

now we are there - I always said it, please no crosspaltform VI forum - this will only end up in the "I always know it better" PC users will tell what the best hardware is. It is childish, but what to expect from persons using a game-thingy to make music [:)]
It is mentioned on the thread: VST for Mac - so what are all the kids doing here? (I know some do not like any kinds of apartheid - but obviously they love OS fascism. Jeeezzzz....

  • you tell 'em! LOL well... world of warcraft runs even fine on my mac [;)]

Er, I assume that you're talking about me? Well do a search and find out who was the first one to complain that there was no VST Mac version of VI [H]

    DG

  • i was [:)]
