  • New demos - solo viola, solo bass, chamber strings and more

I'm very happy to announce the next bunch of VI demos.

Jay Bacal focused on viola and doublebass:

    Heart's Ease by Frank Bridge
    for viola and piano

    Reverie by Giovanni Bottesini
    for doublebass and piano
    http://www.vsl.co.at/Player.aspx?DemoId=4672&Lang=1

Beat Kaufmann sent us an arrangement of the
Prelude BWV 541 by Johann Sebastian Bach
    for chamber string orchestra
    http://www.vsl.co.at/Player.aspx?DemoId=4676&Lang=1

he did also an arrangement of the same piece for 12 cellos
(original arrangement of "12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker"
    http://www.vsl.co.at/Player.aspx?DemoId=4675&Lang=1

In my previous demo announcement I forgot to mention two crossover tunes by Beat Kaufmann:

    Three Flowers
for chamber strings, soloviolin clarinet and additional instruments

    Nice meeting
for solo violin and jazz trio

thanks a lot Beat and Jay

  • Only heard Reverie so far - but its cool to hear something for the doublebass... I tend to always think of it as a backing instrument. Nice to hear it as the main instrument.

  • I'm still getting through the demos, but the Bach Prelude made me smile!! Wow-- so beautifully done!! Man. It almost makes me want to throw my computer out of the window! [:P] (... and I mean that in a good way!)

    Thanks for sharing!!

  • i especially like the first track. the viola sounds outstandingly dynamical .. great work.

  • Wow! The Frank Bridge piece for viola & piano is impressive. However, I would love to hear someone do a mock-up of a late 20th century piece, like Ligeti's 2nd String quartet or George Benjamin's Viola, Viola.

  • Nice demos!

I was touched the most by Heart's Ease. Well done!

Also good work on the fiddle in Nice meeting.

    Thanks.

  • Well no, not me, but if someone else could it would definitely convince me to start saving my pennies to buy the VI Solo Strings.
