    If I understand the VSL VI web site correctly, one can purchas the extension key for just one instrument in a package. That is, I can buy the basic solo strings package and then pay for the extension library for only the solo violin.

    Is this correct? And is the price for the extension approximately one fourth the price of extending the whole set of solo strings?

    You understand correcty, although I dont think this method of purchase has been made available in the webshop yet.

    The price, I beleive, would be a tad more expenssive than 1/4. So if you plan to get them all anyway, getting them all at once would make more sense from a financial standpoint (if you have the money [:)])

    The Extended upgrade prices for the solo strings are:

    Violin 165 Euro
    Viola 130 Euro
    Cello 145 Euro
    Bass 130 Euro
