  • Just for info.
You can install the library on any computer and after installing you can movie/copy the installed sample datas where ever you want.
So you could try to install on your MAC and than copying the datas to any of your windows PCs.

  • Thank You All,
I spend this day again in testing.
I don´t have time to spend another week in testing, why
1.Installer on mac does not work and therefore i cant install and copy.
2.My PCs cannot read Your DVDs
3.VI or Forte or whatever crashes
Fact is: I used Pro edition for the last years with Gigastudio 3 and had never problems. And believe me: All You can buy is also installed and used. I run 4Gigas with 65%load(and sometimes Bösendorfer parallel on the same PC!!) and a Mac, pushed to limit with Pro Edition and a lot of other stuff.
For me there is no reason to switch to a (maybe only for me) not working Setup. I´m not a Betatester, I have to work. As soon as You have a easy to install and working Version, I´ll be the first to buy it. In the meantime i give it back, because it´s to much money to wait untill...
    Sorry

You've used the library-installer on the DVDs for the OSX installation?
Please download the updated version from our user area.
Vienna Instruments Library Installer OSX PPC 1.03

Here is the direct link for download:
    http://www.vsl.co.at/user/download1.asp?Lang=1&TopNav=2&SubNav=1&Menu=18&Detail=0&action=

(One of the VIs has to be registered to see the download link there)

Independently from your purchase desicion, it would interesting and very helpful for us to know, if the content install would finally work on your MAC OSX system.

    thanks

  • Yes, I used Your and synchrosoft´s new Insallers. It does not open itself. Nothing happens.
I tryed all things, forum users told me: Giga reset, special tools, etc.

  • Hello Bernhard,

    were do you live?

  • Munich, why ?

  • Munich, hm.
As far as I know Music Shop at Best Service (our main distributor) offers a kind of "full installation service". I don't know at the moment who is managing this at Music Shop, but if you like we could check this out for you.

  • Yes,
I know, but they have a lot to do for "Frankfurter Musikmesse", like You.
I have my "Special Question guy" at Musicshop for many years, but he didn´t have time jet to check everything in detail. VI is to new.
My ploblem is: I have to start working on a moviescore in 1 week and I have to get used to a new setup to get my mind free for composing. I cannot change during work.

  • For the record, I use Forte on a PC, and use VI on a MAC with OSX, and the installations went fine with the exception of the woodwinds on the Mac. I then tried reinstalling the woodwinds again and it worked fine.

I have had no crashes with Forte on a P4 3.2 with 2g memory.

No crashes on a G5 Dual 2 gig with 2.5 gig.

    Knock on wood...[;)]

  • Bernhard,

plese send me a Email to 1mapson@gmx.de.

  • Hi Bernhard!

First of all I have to tell you that I do understand your situation and that you should still keep working with GS3 until the VI is ready for us!

I've been experiencing the SAME problems than you. Except that I could copy the whole library on my pc.

The thing is that if you install VI on a system where GS3 is already there, except some big crashes! So, just install a new operating system. It works way better than before.

I had the same questions than you : how can you expect us (composers) to work with bounce? I can't bounce each instrument one by one to get my memory free! It's absurd! Gigastudio was running as hell for me. Having more and more use of the articulations, I needed more and more memory...more pc then...

THEN I started to think : those guys at vsl know their job! It's impossible to think that they screw it up that much! So (with the help of Paul Steinbauer, thx man!) I started to think in a different way to write music with VI.

I've succeeded to launch 20 VI on 1 computer (I was so happy!!!...what the!) using Vstack. Then I started to write music in a way I couldn't think about when I was using GS : 1 VI = 1 instrument or group.
So I could have the whole articulations I needed for V1, V2, Violas, Cellos, Bass with only 5 VI! That was great! Of course, as I was writing my score I had to load and optimize the memory usage. But believe me, to obtain such result with GS, I would have needed something like 3 (maybe more) midi ports (16 tracks for each). Then, if I felt bad with a line I reseted the VI and change the line....optimize (ok..that takes time).

BUT after all, my pc wasn't strong enough or the VI is not as optimized as it could. I starting to have some electronic glinches when too many notes were played.....so I thought : ok! I'll wait.

I know they are working on dual proc 64 bits and I think I will buy the best configuration they will recommend. Today I'm still working with GS3.

I just hope I won't have to wait too long to use the VI as it should work!
