Dear Herb,
I'm still a bit confused, are the Preset files actually stored in a folder, or are they parts of the VI .data file and shown up when scanned by the directory manager. I still have the cosmetic problem of a set of empty Preset folders, above a duplicate set with the "Hierachical" arrows in my preset window.

The factory presets are part of the installation and do not apppear in any folder on your desktop filesystem - (they appear only in the VI browser).
Your custom presets are located in a folder of your choice which can be defined with the Directory manager.
This selected folder can contain subfolders, and this folder structure is accessable on your desktop.

A tip to add: When using the AU in Logic, there is no <save preset> option in the VI GUI. However, you can save the setting in the usual way in Logic.
Then, just copy these saved settings files over to the VSL presets folder (or folders within folders. They will then appear in the actual VI GUI menu. Obviously, matrices that you save go straight to the correct location.

I've just installed OrchStr 2 (last week I've installed Woods 1)...
I've changed the structure of my VI folder (the one with the .dat files)... but now I can't see them in the VI anymore (empty preset)...
- I've created this directrory: HD/a "Vienna Instruments" folder/with inside 04-Orchestral Strings 2 & 06-Woodwinds 1 folders...
- I've lunched the VI Directory Manager...
- I've removed the old folders and added my new "Vienna Instruments" folder...
- ...and try to fix it... but as soon as I click "Rescan existing", like Pianoman, the button disappears and nothing happens...
I've tried to trash the preferences (Vienna-Instruments-Directory-Manager.plist... actually I've just moved it on the desktop)... but... useless...
I don't know how to go on... [:O]ops: Help!

I've done it...
So...
in the DM, I (and the other "dumb" like me [:D]) have had to choose these folders (i.e. for the Orchestral Strings 2):
23 Cellos Orchestra and 24 Basses Orchestra... and not the "04-Orchestral Strings 2" that, in my directory, contains them...
Thanks Herb...
