  • Q for VI Users: How much easier is it?

Compared to the 'old' way with Gigastudio [or in my case Kontakt 2]. Do you find yourselves whizzing through the programming? Does the speed control really reduce the programming? etc etc.. I'm dyding to know how people who've bought it feel about it...

I'm torn between Solo Strings and Strings 1...

  • It's pretty wonderful.

Saves tons of time over using Performance Tool.

The only thing everyone is still trying to get a handle on is arriving at some kind of consistent way of handling all the ways to switch patches, but even that is super easy to set up on the fly.

Once you use it, you can't go back[;)]

  • Yep-- it's much easier and faster than PE, but you do have to be clever with it at least at first. The console is well thought out, and the difference between VI and the old performance tool is like night and day-- especially with articulations and repetitions. It's nice to have performance elements integrated into the console itself.

How could you consider Orch Strings 1 without Och Str 2?!! [:D]

There are many things that make the new VI much faster to work with than the Horizon version. The best thing is being able to do everything on one track (or almost everything). It takes time to get to know your way around the huge number of articulations, but the presets really help.

I'm still in the early stages of learning the interface but so far there has been an easy solution to most of my problems. I'm afraid that I've adopted a rather cautious approach to VI and am only gradually learning to change my way of working to this new system.

There are a few things that I don't like and in my opinion work better in the Horizon version, but VI is such a giant leap forward that hopefully I'll begin to find ways round these niggles.
