  • Hi Christian thanks for the reply - sorry I sounded so frustrated. I tried to register the key again, this time with the 6 digits, but I still can't get past the first page - it says 'the vienna key is already registered for another user'; also, where do I find the licence control center app on my Mac after I installed the syncrosoft installer (I used the latest version posted). I am running 10.4.5
    Christian

  • LCC will be found in the Applications folder and is called "License Control Center" (without the name Syncrosoft)

It sounds as if the phrase "another user" may be referring to you, but it's hard to tell. It might have said "you have already registered this license" for greater clarity. I say this because when LCC didn't work for me, the licenses were already on the key even when the software failed to acknowledge it.

There are two options-- to use 5.0.2.0 or to try 4.9.7.6 or 4.9.7.7. Make sure you remove the installed version of LCC first before updgrading or downgrading...

  • ok, thanks, I found the LCC, and it recognizes the key. But I still can't register my instrument or download the fixed installer. All I get at your website is the page for KEY registration, even if I click on INSTRUMENT registration. When I input my key number it says already taken and gives me the same page again. How do I get past that?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • Let me see if I understand your process...

When you start LCC, are you going to the Wizard menu and selecting License Download? This *should* open a new window where you will enter the codes sent to you from VSL. Once you've entered your VSL code in LCC>Wizard> License Download, you will click the ENTER button when it lights up-- then you must click the button at the bottom of that window to begin the download.

Ideally, this is the process. But..

If you get an error message, quit everything, and restart the computer and begin again. Sometimes there are error messages that recur and prevent you from proceeding. This happened to me even when I reverted back to 4.9.7.6. I'm still getting a warning window that says that one of my license downloads is incomplete. I can't get rid of it, but it doesn't seem to effect how everything else is working-- so I've left it alone for now.

With that said, could it be that you have already downloaded your license successfully without knowing it?

It could also be that certain characters in the authorization codes need to be more clearly distinguished. Non-serif fonts can be confusing when entering the number 1 as opposed to a cap "I" or a lower case L. Also, "0" and "O" were big hurdles for me-- took about an hour to just sort out the numbers and letters. I changed the font for the VSL codes to Times just to figure this out.

One trick is that if you got an html e-mail from VSL (instead of the PDF attachment), you can copy and paste the entire number in the first LCC window and all the characters will "snap" to the other 9 windows automatically.

Is this the point at which you are getting the warning window?

But, don't fret. It WILL work. It's just quirky.

  • Hi JWL, thanks for the help. See, the catch 22 is I don't even have an activation code yet because I cannot for the life of me get to the bloody vienna instruments registration page on the website. All that ever shows is the same vienna key registration page.
Aslo, I still don't know how and where to get the replacement for the corrupt chamber strings intrument installer that came on the disc I bought. I found a few links that all say they'll take you to the fixed installer, but they all lead to the syncrosoft installer, not to the instrument installer. I've done some software installing in my time, but this is the most confusing thing I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED.

Hang in there, buddy-- I'll be right back with some links (if they're working today...)

  • Okay--

Try emptying your browser cache first.

    http://vsl.co.at/en-us/68/141/246.vsl

On this page, you'll find the Vienna Key Registration. You will have to log in first.
-- Make sure you register your Vienna Key before attempting to do anything else! The Vienna Key number can be found in LCC. This means you'll need to have your browser and LCC running at the same time.

Once your key is registered, check the menu list on the left of the VSL browser window. Click on <Vienna Instruments Registration>. There you may enter your Standard Edition code (included in each volume) or your Extended Edition code (if you've purchased them, and they have arrived from VSL). Make sure the Standard Ed. numbers go across the top set of boxes, and the Extended Ed. numbers in the lower boxes. Once the new authorizatiion codes appear, write them down, or copy and paste them into a word processor or your e-mail composition window.

    Now.

    http://vsl.co.at/en-us/68/375/238.vsl

This link contains links to Syncrosoft and for the latest versions of the VI Installer. At the BOTTOM of the page (under item #2) click on <USER AREA>. Don't click on the "User Area" in the browser's top menu. In the new download window that opens you want the VI Installer for "OSX PPC 1.04".

If you are still having trouble accessing these links, let me know...

  • Ok, I've followed your directions precisely, and it's the same as before: when I click on 'vienna instruments registration' no instrument registration appears. Instead, the vienna KEY registration reappears, strongly recommending for me to register my vienna key which I've been trying to do now for 3 bloody days. At the bottom of that page is a field that says "registered vienna keys or licenses: none". So th page tells me simultaneously that my key number is already registered (I assume that was me cause it didn't say that the very first time I registered) and that I have no key registered.

  • Hi Cklizard,

best is you send an email to
    support@vsl.co.at
with your login name and password, so they can check what's going wrong with your key registration and why you couldn't get acces to the library registration page.

    best
    Herb

  • Ah. Herb to the rescue. Thanks, Herb--

Good luck, CK. I'll let the pros take care things from here on...
