  • StillWondering What I don't Know

    Paul,
I initialized a new Vienna instrument in Logic.
I go to an empty matrix assign window and drag any univerasal file
Violin, Vla , Cello or Bass into the First slot.

It is automatically assigined to C-0
(nothing else is assigned in the other slots)

I play the Instrument. Again I can only play a Short note &
a Long Note by switching with the mod wheel.

No matter which key switch I use from C-0 through C-1 or C-2
depending on whether its a Vla, Vln or Cello, I never can switch to
or play a trem, pizz, Ponticello, Trill, etc. on any Universal Inst.

the Control edit windows in each Universal Inst shows a 3 tier vertical
layer and a 4 cell horizontal set, nothing more.

I must have suffered a stroke from the first time I used VI.
because it has never been the same since I first used it.

Until today, I've never even loaded the Cello or Viola Univeral Inst.
    Help Me Please.
    Thank You
    M Colina

  • Hi MColina

The matrix files labeled "Universal" offers primary performance interval patches.

The matrix file you are searching for is called for example L1 VI Articulation Combi
Here you can switch between all this basic articulations (sustains, stacato, tremolo, pizz, etc)

Maybe the pdf manuals with the mapping descriptions are helpful for you.
You can download these pdf files in our User Area/Vienna Instruments/Manuals

    Hi,

the Universal Matrix is speed controlled and features Performance Legato, Performance Marcato and Performance Spiccato.

That means that the horizontal span is speed controlled and you cn choose between the different articulations in the vertical span with your ModWheel.

You also get that information when you click on the matrix in the VI browser and read the information window...

Please take a little time and take a look at our VI tutorial videos here and the demos including MIDI files and presets here.

    Hope that helps.

    Best, Paul
