    just tried to install RAX AU rack for following reasons:

    ... to load an standart VI orchestra setup in one interface to prevent the
    sequenzer (logic) of long loading times.

    the idea is, to start a standart VI setup in the morning with rax (wich looks interesting )and get back the "workflow" in logic if you work on several arrangements (like i have to do every day in film scorimg)

    connected both applications (rax + logic) via JACK to my RME DIGI 96 card which seems to work fine ...
    opend an instance in RAX which i play with the mouse on the user interface "keyboard" and an instrument in logic via the "real" keyboard at the same time - in this case no conflicts...

    then i tried to connect logic and RAX via IAC bus midi driver and the result is
    pops and clicks and echos in the RAX signal ...

    any ideas ?

    You're creating a Midi Feedback Loop. IAC is a mess try Midi Patchbay.

    In DP choose setup>interapplication midi> add 1 DP Output (not input)

    Midi Patchbay choose DP output to Midi Output Rax. In Rax prefs Midi choose DP Output as Midi Input. Remove everything else.

    Thats as far as I've got with it. haven't tried Logic.

    it looks simple but effective, but i have no idea how route a midi signal to it from logic without getting a midi feddback loop ... (perhaps you find out something ...)

    Try turning off the IAC bus.
    There is (was?) a recognised problem with using the bus in logic. It used to create a loop, which caused a few problems including crashing.


    to use Midi patchbay with Rax, (which i did going into Sibelius, before i figured out Sibelius could see Rax anyway) You will need a patch containing 16 channels. (A good idea is to name them Logic Piccolo to Rax Piccolo, etc. Saves a lot of figuring out.)
    If you need more, then you'll need to build a new patch under a different name.
    There's every reason to think, from what you've written, that it may be you're getting two signals, one interefering with the other. The iac bus and logic aren't friends.
    I'm in out of my depth territory now. so i won't go further.

    Maybe someone cleverer than i am can chip in and help.

    If your setup works with rax and logic into your card without the IAC bus, why do you need to use it?

    One question is how you've configured Logic's Environment. I use the IAC bus buffered by a MIDI Patchbay configuration to play Logic's Audio Instruments with Finale 2005 running on the same computer as Logic. I am also able to play Gigastudio on its own Windows machine simultaneously. If you'd like me to post the exact configuration let me know.
