Sorry to hear about your problem and this is unfortunately too late now, but for other users trying the same thing...
This is exactly why you always should COPY the line in boot.ini (as outlined here
http://community.vsl.co.at/viewtopic.php?t=7952 ). That way you get a dual boot with a /3GB and a non-/3GB system and you have a safe route back if the machine doesn't boot with the /3GB switch enabled.

That's exactly what we tried... exactly. However, rebooting the FIRST time after copying the boot.ini line caused a crash we couldn't get past. Ultimately, I got the system to read off of the DVD drive and work its way past the problem, at least to the point where I could rewrite the line in question. Chris, of ADK Pro Audio... who's great... says that something in the BIOS setting was causing a conflict.
