I just wanted to report that 1.04 is working well on my system. Total load times for 10 instances was less than 30 seconds on a G5 2.5 Dual using Digital Performer 4.61-- way down from 3 minutes with 1.03. I've not checked load times with Logic 7.2 yet, but it promises to be comparable.

Thomas,
Does the standalone version of your Vienna Instruments start as it used to?
If it doesn´t, please open the Directory Manager and manually remove and then add again the folders containing your Vienna Instruments .dat files.
As cm suggested, file permissions are always a possible culprit as well.
It might also be necessary to run Logics AU Validation again, although this wasn´t the case when I updated - just a thought...
If all this does not help, please try to plug your Vienna Key into a different USB port.
I am running version 1.04 at this very moment without any troubles, so I am positive we will be able to sort out your problems!
Best, Marnix

Isn't there going to be 1.04 for PC - this speed improvement sounds like a fantastic improvement?

...no need for a 1.04 on PC currently i'd say ...
christian
What are your current load times like?
Somehow, knowing the VSL team, any updates for the PC will not be overlooked or taken for granted. Load times weren't my biggest concern at the moment, but this Mac update came as a very nice treat. Honestly, with all the misfires with Syncrosoft that took over a week to sort out, the best part about this update is that it worked right away without a hitch.
I have a feeling there are some nice things on the horizon (no pun intended) for PC users, who have us Mac users way outnumbered.

hello marnix | cm | JWL
thanks for your replies...
this morning i did following:
- deleted the logic projekt manager data
- repaired permissions (i´ve tried this often before)
- rescanned all VI with directory manager
- deleted logic preferences to get a real default sopng
- startet new projekt in logic by using the setup manager
- deleted all "grayed out" AU units and its components
- new validation for the VI - component (AU manager reports version 1.0.0 - right?)
- removed the former build in powercore and all its components, prefs, libraries, ...
- moved all exs instruments to an other folder to get rid of the "exs-instruments-scanning" wait time at startup of logic)
- connected the synchrosoft key to another USB - port of the mac (without hub as i did before ...
the results:
1. starttime of the standalone VI interface:
0:15
2. starttime of a logic song with 4 instances (solo - vi, - va, - vc, - cb with Level 2A - universal - matrix - for each instance:
1:10
3. starttime of a logic song with 8 instances (solo - vi, - va, - vc, - cb, orchestra - vi, - va, - vc, - cb - with Level 2A - universal - matrix - for each instance:
2:25
4. my "old song" as i described yesterday with 10 similar instances as above (additional 2 woodwinds - solo instances)
7:30
... maybe my old song is damaged, try now to copy into the new one above ...
what about the load times of the first three steps above?
do you think they´re normal?
best
thomas

Hey Thomas:
I can confirm the 15 second scan time. Same on this end. From there, the load times were 2.5- 3 minutes (unless Syncrosoft glitched...)
I can also say that with 8-10 instances of Universal matrices in each that the load times have never been as high as 7 minutes. I am expecting those kinds of load times with a full orchestral project, but not with just strings. I'd say 2:25 is pretty much on par with my numbers. Yesterday, I loaded a project with 10 instances, 3 are empty. 7 of these contain 2 matrices, one contains 5 matrices-- Perf-legato and Universal, some custom 3 x 3's. From scan to load completetion it was less than a minute. Bigger projects still hit the 3 minute mark.
One of the things that helped on my system is that I put all my strings on an internal SATA. For the rest of the Cube, I'm sure I'll avoid FW 400 in favor of external SATA or FW 800. (I'm on a 2.5 Dual.)
Another thing I did was I reverted back to LCC 4.9.x.x, but if 5.0.0.1 is working for you, don't touch it.
Curious thing with your "old song"-- doesn't sound much more demanding than the test project.. hmmm....

Hey T:
Check in with that thread again about this-- seems like there's some development for PC....

I can confirm difficulties with version 1.0.4 and Logic 7.2 .
Before and after installing 1.0.4, I ran "repair permissions." I then attempted to load a single instance of VI in Logic's Autoload file. After twenty minutes of a spinning beach ball, I force quit Logic..
After quitting Logic, I got a message that something was wrong Vi's license authorization and that I should move the key to another USB port (The key had been working happily in a Belkin powered USB hub since I got it.) I moved the key to the USB port on my monitor. Rebooted the computer. Repaired permissions again.
Following Thomas Wolter's suggestions, I opened Logic, deleted the existing Project Manager data and recreated exactly the same Project Manager data. I then opened one instance of VI which appeared after about 1 minute. Further instances opened much more quickly. All instances loaded sounds very quickly.
In other words, version 1.0.4 of VI software appears to work and be significantly faster than version 1.0.3 when used with Logic 7.2, IF AND ONLY IF you have first deleted previous Project Manager data and then recreated it.

Hi,
it´s obviously really important to check out
http://www.syncrosoft.com/downloads/licensecontcenter.html
in case you are experiencing any troubles with the LCC versions 4.9.7.7 to 5.0.1.0.
We also experienced that the rollback helps a lot and we are eagerly awaiting a new version from Syncrosoft, that will fix all these issues for sure!
Best, Paul
