(Thought I'd use the newly suggested topic format - though this may well apply to PC also)
I downloaded the tutorial files of Christian Kardeis (great stuff) and instinctively put them into ~/Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Vienna Instruments (whew)
This location is where preset files end up if you want to save from the AU: you have no save option from the GUI window. So, these settings come up in the local Logic menu (under the <bypass> button.
Then, I realised that one can use the same files in the default folder which was created (at the location of one's own choice) when installing. The bonus here is that the .aupreset files show in the VI GUI list, under the factory presets. (Nice!)
I have now organised the default folder to have 2 sub-folders: Matrix files and Presets. When I use the <save matrix> function from the Patch Assign page, I store in the matrix folder. I have to save presets to the path mentioned above, then copy to my Preset folder.
One has to disable VI and reload for the file list to refresh though...
Just thought I'd share these observations in case they are helpful.
