    I've not had this issue arise with other virtual instruments before---

    I've set up a string quintet in DP with 5 instances of VI on seperate tracks with corresponding MIDI tracks for each instance. I have sounds loaded into each instance, which have been saved in DP's "Vienna Instruments AudioUnit-Server Interface". Also with the AUSI in DP, I open the VSL-VI GUI where I also have my custom matrices saved. The folder that DP's AUSI sees is the same as the folder VSL-VI sees with the same custom matrices loaded.

    Here's the problem: when I save and close DP (or otherwise shut down the computer)-- and then resume a project later, none of the matrices load the sounds in VSL-VI that were saved. I have to reload them all manually because all VI instances re-open projects in progress with completely empty matrices.

    Can anyone shed some light on this?

    It's working ok for me. Everything loads up just as I saved it. (and I did not use the GUI save file) I have 6 VI's with custom Matices and Pacthes+ 1 Kontakt multi in DP 4.61's V-Rack. I've cut the number of Midi tracks by 50%.

    All this talk wbout V-Racks and it's built right into DP. 4.6

    Maybe try trashing DP pref files? I did notice that making changes in the VI's did not prompt a save command in DP. I had to update DP itself by moving a record enable or something like that.

    I am wondering how to save a new preset file.

    I think keeping the GUI save file was the key to getting DP to link the VI patches and matrices used in a given project. Not 100% on this, now that you've mentioned not using the GUI. Once I went through all of my VI patches and saved them again using DP's AU GUI, it seems to be working okay, although it IS a lot of work and a little redundant.

    The only other sample library I use is Vitous Philharmonik. There is a save button right on that console, but I don't recall ever having to use the AU-GUI. As a matter of fact, I'm certain there was no AU-GUI with Vitous.

    This is very odd, but I'm eager to read Paul's reports on various DAWs in conjunction with VI when they're ready for publication.

    I am 100% certain that saving the GUI file is not a factor. I didn't even notice you could save it until you mentioned it. Too complicated.. I'm using System 10.4.5. Good luck with it...
