  • MIDI Controlled H and V-span Divisions

Might we ever see the ability to change the span divisions by MIDI controller?

Here's one application. I've got a staccato riff in the violins that's speed-controlled over four cells. The playback is phenomenal. But there's one note that -- due to the speed -- is playing perf-rep_por-fa, and I'd like to hear perf-rep_por-sl. It'd be very cool to insert a division change there, then perhaps revert back.

No need to tell me how else it can be done. I know how versatile the VI is. But MIDI controllable divisions may be an unmatched convenience in some cases.

Poor Christian. He gives us the moon, and now we want Mars.

(BTW, when you right click on the divisions, they re-set to equal portions. Cool.)

  • Hi,

so what you are talking about is a second (alternative) way of controlling the articulations with speed control. That would mean two controllers assigned to one dimension.... and we´re trying really hard to keep things simple!

I´d personally just load the perf-rep_por_sl into a different matrix and trigger it seperately for those few extra articulations, it doesn´t cost you more RAM if you stay in one VI.... but I guess, you know that already.

  • Yes, I can see how VI has been designed to limit confusion. Holding a dimension to one controller is probably the greater of two goods.
