  • Clarification on alternations

    Hi,

I understand quite well the principal of the Matrix with all its subtle articulations. But when we are in the Patch Assign column, ex. staccato solo violin, do we get 4 different samples of that staccato violin alone? Is that the meaning of the middle box where it says: 4 Alternations?

    Yes, exactly.

  • Mmmmm... sorry Herb (and Guy)... but "4 Alternations", in that patch, doesn't stand for:
4 Layers and Alternations (up & down, so... just 2 different samples...)? [8-)]

Ooooh... I see! ...Guy, you mean 4 (from Layers) different notes (with different velocity)...

    Ok... but now, my question/doubt:
In the AV (Short+Long Note)... there are some "sus" Patch... in the manual I can read, e.g.:
    11 VI-20_sus_Vib
    Sustained, with vibrato
    4 velocity layers
    Release samples
    2 Alternations

...what "2 Alternations" in this case stand for... (seen that... the Layers are 4)?

([:O]ops: every note that I'll play, I'll get -alternatively- the up & down bowing? ...similar to a Staccato patch?)

    Thanks...

  • At the VI-20 sustains you get the alternation if you play a repetition tight to the previous note, so it's a kind of repetition and of course a bowchange. best
