  • Multiple identical instances and RAM

I am using VI via FX-teleport over a network.

I find that if I load the VI-14 VSL Preset Level 2, my memory usage goes up to about 700Mb. However, if I load the identical Preset into another instance my memory usage goes up to 1400Mb. I thought that the samples weren't loaded twice?
Please could other people check this for me, so that I can see whether it is a VI problem or an FX-Teleport problem.

I could be wrong, but I believe that on the PC instances do NOT share memory yet. I think they are working on this.

Blimey, that's almost two reasons to consider buying buy a Mac now [:D] I suppose that I've just got used to loading up as many tracks in GS3 as I like with the same samples on each.

    Thanks Jay [:(]

  • Hi,

shared memory doesn´t work on a Mac either, and there´s a reason for this: When you use "Optimize RAM" and have the same patches loaded in another VI, that plays different notes, there would be a severe conflict....

  • Hi Paul. Would be nice if this in some way was fixed. I was planning on loading two similar instances for 1st and 2nd violin.

But I don't want to optimise RAM, I just want to load the samples and leave them [:'(]

Well at least I won't have to consider buying a Mac [:)]

Agreed. Just program it so if someone actually does you memory optimize its just tough luck for them, they loose the samples in both instances.

  • Please don´t worry, I´m just stating how it is right now. Let´s see what the future brings.
