  • I can only guess, but maybe you have only access to the Standard library.
You can verify this loading all the Level 1 Matrixfiles or the Level 1 Preset if you don't get any error messages than this could be the reason.

But that means that you shouldn't be able to load any patch which has the small L2 signature at the end of the patchname.

Another good question Herb - that was the first thing I thought but I have been able to load a number of other 'L2' matrixes. (BTW - on the Short notes CHMBR violines L2 one - very nice on the Detache - short and long)

Tried a lot more L2 Matrixes - seems like the 'Universal' and Perf Trill Speed Combi L2' are the only ones right now giving me the 'error' message

BTW - when this error comes up - it crashes both VI and Vstack. Restart, load another 'proven' matrix and I am fine. Load up one of these two after restarting VS and it crashes again.

    I am running software 1.03.

  • I've checked both Matrix files with version 1.3 in VStack and as plug in in SX3. No problems here. Strange, I'll ask our developers to jump in.

  • Thanks Herb. Just to try everything - I tried setting my soundcard buffer size to 256 samples (was 12[H] on that PC - no impact. VI still crashes upon loading Universal Cbr VL matrix (as well as perf trill).

Looking forward to your input. This is a 'bump in the road' that we will figure out by for the matrixes I have been able to open I am very impressed with the level of detail and work you and your team have given this effort. Simple atonishing!

    Rob.

  • when this error message "can't find wave .." pops up, the VI is unable to resolve the path to its waves.

Please make sure that in Scantool (Directory Manager) you point to the folders which actually contain the .dat files.

VI does not do any recursion to resolve nested folders ie folder in folder.

eg if you point to "Chamber Strings" and within this folders are the actual
10 Strings Chamber, 11 Violins Chamber etc which contain the .dat files, VI cannot resolve.

So pls check if in ScanTool 10 Strings Chamber, 11 Violins Chamber etc are explicitly listed.

  • Without question the individual folders are shown in the Directory Manager and I have unloaded and loaded them back again a number of times (just to be sure).

Gone through the VA in Chbr and the following are causing the crash as well

VA Perf Lef Speed + porta

(interesting to point out that when this one crashed I unloaded this VI from VS - reloaded again and this matrix worked the second time.

    VA Perf Universal

(tried the above worka round on this patch and still crashed)

--I'll keep going through Chbr strings (seems to be a trend that the largest of Matrixes are getting this error message and causing the crashes).

Looking forward to any additional input.

I have it!!!! I remember something DG said about the GS memory config tool. I went to that utility and set it to "XP Default". No crashes!!!!

Hope this helps someone else who is converting from a GS machine.

(VSL - I would resommend some official procedure to be certain we have the most access to ram - heck maybe switching this within GS is enough [[;)]] )

edit note: With this set to XP Default - I noticed available ram is down to 1500 MB (was 1750 MB) [:'(] . Anyone else tried the other GS memory tweaks (the one that was giving me problems was preset #4)

  • Rob,

I would try to load the individual patches which were used in these Matrix files, if this works your database is OK, and there is a problem with the Matrixfiles.

    Matrixfile 01 VI-6 Perf-Universal

    Folder:
    10 PERF INTERVAL
    Patches:
    01 VI-6_perf-legato
    05 VI-6_perf-marcato
    06 VI-6_perf-spiccato

    Folder:
    98 RESSOURCE / 03 Perf Speed variation
    Patches:
    01 VI-6_perf-legato_me
    02 VI-6_perf-marcato_me
    03 VI-6_stac-spic
    06 VI-6_perf-spiccato_me

    Matrixfile 01 VI-6 Perf-Trill Speed - Combi

    Folder:
    10 PERF INTERVAL
    Patches:
    01 VI-6_perf-legato
    03 VI-6_perf-legato_zigane
    04 VI-6_perf-portamento

    Folder:
    11 PERF TRILL
    01 VI-6_perf-trill_leg

Further I would add one patch to the other in a new Matrix file (without unloading). If you get a crash at certain point, I would try loading again starting with the crashed patch. If this is working now, maybe there is a problem with one of your RAM modul.

If possible I would install the Chambner strings on a 2nd computer checking out these Matrix files.

  • I seems, that I was too slow in my previous post.
Cool, that you could fix it.
