    Just noted that the violin spiccato patch appears to have problems when alternating between F natural (top line treble clef) and Gb a 1/2 step above. This occurs whether or not the release sample is turned on. This does not occur with the Horizon Solo String violin perf-spiccato instrument. Thought you would want to know. Also wondered if where I might find something similar to the 0.5s mv patches in the Horizon library. I will report any other anomalies I encounter.

    and you can fin it in the 01 SHORT + LONG NOTES folder

    the difference between Horizon violin perf- spiccato and the VI is, that in the VI version you have a little more sound of the previous note which sounds like a very short grace note but using it at the right tempo (not too slow) offers a much more realistic result.
    The option to you use different spiccato patches for different performance speeds enabled this more realistic approach.
    That means if you perform too slow with the perf-spiccati the grace note effect gets more obvious.

    I recomment to use the
    13 VI Perf-Spiccatp Speed Matrix, if necessary adjust the speed changes to your need on the Control Edit page.

    Another possibilty is to use the Attack control slider (of the Perform page), slightly adjusting to higher value (around 55) will mask the grace effects also, which gives you a similiar result to the Horizon product.

    Thanks so much for the advice. The spiccato culpirit turned out to be a little different. In my setup, Finale plays Logic's audio instruments through the IAC drivers. When the notes in question are marked with a staccato dot in Finale, Finale's default setting is to play them at 40% of their nominall duration. When the playback parameter for the staccato dot is changed to 75% of nominal duration (or turned off, allowing 100% of nominal duration) in Finale the VI spiccato sounds fine (best with this parameter turned off) - and, as you say, is more realistic than the Horizon spiccato. (In terms this passage consists of 16th notes at quarter = 144.
