  • 2 hours into Solo Strings Installer Quits ERASES EVERYTHING!

I am 2 hours into the Solo Strings Installation then near the end of Disk #3 it says: disk courrupted?

THEN IT DELETES EVERYTHING IT HAS INSTALLED FROM SOLO STRINGS!

    Unbelievable.

  • Hi Bruce,

which system are you working on? It might be a faulty DVD... Do you have the possibility to check on another DVD drive?

    Really sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Thank you Paul. This is a most unnerving experience. I also had problems with the Woodwinds as there were bad scratches on those disks, (near the edge)

I am using Mac G5 2.0 System 10.4.3. and Mac G5 2.5 Sys 10.4 but it is full already.all the newest installers and everything is registered.

Your products deserve better than this. I would have happily have paid more for a Sata Hard Disk less stressful media solution than these DVD's.

I have emailed Ilio tech and asked for replacement disks. They said they had none.

  • I´m sure we will get this sorted out. Do you have a chance to check with a different drive somewhere? That would be great.

Please email me and I´ll do my best to help you quick: p.steinbauer@vsl.co.at

  • Bruce,

I would think that there is something not quite sparkling with either your DVD's or your G5 DVD player. My Solo strings installation was about 30 minutes from start to finish - also on a G5.

    Julian

  • Juliian,

My sorry G5's are 1 and 2 years old respectively. They only cost me about 10 thousand dollars.

What, pray tell G5 are you using to sparkle so?

  • G5 2.5 dual - same as yours?

    Julian

  • Perhaps some DVD drives are faster than others. I successfully installed the Solo String library in about 1 hour and 20 minutes on my dual 2.5GHz G5.

  • Correction - after reading your post I double checked my Logs to discover that the installation of Solo Strings took 1 hour 10minutes. The DVD's have worked out at about 15 minutes per DVD with the last one in any set often being shorter. The 30 minutes I was referring to was for the time for the Orchestral Strings packages which were 2 discs each.

    sorry for the confusion!

    Julian.

  • My God .... Solo Strings took 4.5 hours on my PC.

I have Athlon 3.2 GHz, and SATA 7200 rpm disks.

I did wonder afterwards wether I should have switched off my anti-vrius/security software during install.

  • Ouch Drew - I think mine took maybe 1:30 on a similar PC.

  • Hi,

switching off all antivirus software is always a good idea when installing large content, as every imported file is being checked, which prolongues the installation process...

  • Marcussen, well I guess things just work faster in Denmark generally (like the postal system too) [[;)]]

  • Yes that - and lack of anti virus [:D]
