  • RAM - loading same instrument in VI

I remember reading somewhere on the forum (can't remember where) that you only use RAM once if you load the same instrument (f.ex. VI-6 Perf-Universal) in several VI. But in my system (V-Stack) it uses 611 Mb for every load of the instrument!

  • Is this something that will be solved in a later version of VI? I hope so. Mayby it's just in my system the instruments uses full ram for each load of the instrument. [*-)]
By the way, the VI sounds fantastic!

I read that somewhere as well, but it's wrong!!!!!!!!! There has been talk about changing that in an update, but no promise and no timescale.

  • If you load the same patch twice in one VI the samples are only loaded once. If you need the same patch in a different Matrixfiles for example.

For different VIs this doesn't work now, because the Sample Management optimize feature wouldn't work anymore. At the momemt you only can scan one VI at once, and this would mean you would unload also all samples which the other VI could have used.

  • Which would be ok IMHO as long as people are aware of it. Then they can choose to use it or not. Would really help me, as I would be able to load my second vilins on the same computer (its full now with Violin, Cello, Viola and Bass)

Back to playing with VI now [:)]

Agreed. Love the spelling of vilins; I normally call them Vile-Dins [:D]

To me that sems to be yet another convincing argument to think about making VI multitimbral, if this might allow easier RAM optimization for multiple Tracks, which are using the same samples.
