I've spent a couple nights with it so far, just trying out the different patches, etc.
What strikes me most in trying to figure out how to best set things up to get work done quickly is how daunting a task this is.
I ask myself, "OK, in a typical lead violins section line, what articulations would be used?"
For me, it would probably be Slow and Fast legato lines, and a way to go from those to say, a short or long decresendo. Add to that perhaps a few short articulations, and perhaps a porta and you should be able to play most lead violin lines in a modern arrangement, for instance. So perhaps that is one matrix?
Now we need to do the second violins and violas, who perhaps, are playing chordal type support along with the celli. So do we set up a separate matrix for the second violins, and celli?
My head is just spinning wi†h all this. It would be great if perhaps we could ideas on efficiency up here in a thread like this, what works for you, what you are finding time saving and useful, etc.
It is starting to seem to me that it will be a lot to remember to be able to switch all the articulations with mod wheels, key switches, matrix key switches, etc, unless we always keep things consistent. Otherwise, I could see VI actually slowing workflow down ironically due to its power. So many possibilites that it becomes really confusing fast.
So I look forward to ideas that might appear in this thread to help all of us get organized!
