  • Surplus AU window

When I insert a VI in Logic I get a AU window with a Display GUI box to click. When I click this the Vienna GUI is displayed. But when you close the original AU box to avoid screen clutter the VI GUI also closes.

Could the VI GUI either be incorporated in the Plug in window or alternatively can we close the Plug-in box without loosing the Vienna Instruments dispay otherwise we will have a lot of "screen litter" and be forever closing the VI GUI by mistake.

    Thanks

    Julian.

  • I believe the GUI is a separate "application" accessed from the AU plug in and that needs to be visible to access the GUI itself.

Early in another thread I wrote:

Any suggestions about how you manage lots of open GUIs. It might be an idea to have the ability to Minimise them (not just to the Dock) with the matrix name displayed somewhere. This is what some other software does leaving a small window open with essential info visible.

Also since the GUI is a separate application it floats on top of the DAW window.
If you select something like "quit" in the DAW you may wonder why nothing happens.
Simply there may be a dialogue hiding behind the GUI asking if you want to save before quitting. It had me wondering for a moment why LOGIC wasn't quitting.

  • Agreed. I have a feeling this will be improved over time. The "Display GUI" box tells the user nothing other than the instrument number, and it takes up precious real estate. When I closed it and the plug-in window closed with it, I cringed. I'd like to just double-click on the channel strip and open the VI plug-in directly, as with EXS.

If the box could give us some concise information, I'd get it. For now, it seems superfluous -- one more click.

I always feel like churl when I post these things. For the record, VI is amazing -- a vaulting leap over the previous way of doing business.

  • hi,

maybe some of you already have noticed that there is a huge difference in time when you have clicked on the "Display Gui" buttone once, just closed the VI and then reopened it with "Display Gui". The second time you press "Display Gui" the VI shows up instantly. While when closing the litte window and open it up again and then pressing again "Display Gui", it will take about 4 seconds untill you see the VI.

Certainly its easier to handle this when you have at least two monitors.
