  • VI MIDI/Hardware Problem

I am trying to launch VI in standalone mode on my PC, but upon opening, I get the message "MIDI DEVICE IS BUSY OR NOT FUNCTIONING AT GIVEN PARAMETERS, PLEASE CHECK PROGRAM PREFS."
Once I go to these prefs, the error message stops.
They are set to my WAVECENTER PCI card, and 24 bit. But I can't get a sound out of this thing, and no indication of MIDI in activity.

I can open GIGA and play just fine.

Also, there is no audio routing dialog, such as with programs that also use the ASIO driver, like FM synth, that not only ask you for the MIDI port setup, but for where you want the audio to go (Lightpipe, etc).

    Help.

  • Hi Tom,

this can be caused by the internal MIDI device setting under Control Panel => Sounds and Audio Devices => Audio. Please select your MIDI driver as the standards settings.

As for the interface options: The standalone version is meant to be an uncomplicated instrument for Live playing, that´s why we chose to make the options as easy as possible.

    Hope that helps.

I have the same problem with the stand-alone. Correctly detects the device as an EDIROL UM-1. No settings are available via Control Panel. Works fine using VST in the sequencer.

I'll try updating the EDIROL drivers. I'm not too concerned about this as I always use the sequencer but it would be nice to get it all working.
