  • Can I really erase my Pro AND Horizon stuff?

    Hi guys,

    I´ll be getting the extended VI´s. Before I start buying new HD´s (+backup HD`S) a quick question:
I have almost all Horizons and the Pro Edition. What can I erase after installing the VI?
I frequently have to acess old files so abandoning the EXS´s would be bad.

Can those old EXS´s still find their samples in the new VI samples (with Andreas EXS Manager)?

    All the best,

    Jochen

    Hi Jochen,
    most probably no.
There is a very recent thread about the same question.

    Nils

  • Thank you Nils,

I know this thread. It says:

"You can delete all of Pro Edition if:

    - You dont want to load your old songs where Pro. Ed was used
    - You plan on getting the extended VI. If not Pro Ed includes articulations not available in the standard VI."

There is a possibility for a missunderstanding:
If *both* statements are true I can delete the Pro Samples?
Or if only *one* statement is true I can delete them?

That would be very different in my case. I can read the statement that *all* Pro-articulations are present in the VI. Then the question is still if the EXS Instruments can find (and use) them with the help of the EXS Manager.

Also, if I understand correctly all VI´s are 24 bit, right?
So I definitly would prefer the old EXS Instruments acessing the new samples.

    All the best,

    Jochen

    To answer your questions.

If you are not buying the EXTENDED VIs then DO NOT delete your old Pro Ed - you will lose a lot of articulations.

If you want to open exisiting songs (using EXS) and do not want to translate them all to using VIs (which I think would be a huge task anyway) then DO NOT delete your old Pro Ed.

So its a kind of "both" but not mutually exclusive.

As for using the new VIs in EXS this is a big NO. The VIs use their own proprietary data format which EXS cannot use.

    Hope this helps.

    Best

    Tim

  • Ok, got it. Thank you.
